Levi Brown didn't come home for dinner tonight and his mother Elisapee takes to the streets to find him. A mother’s love is backgrounded by simmering tensions of race and class in contemporary Iqaluit. Hunt was written in collaboration with, and stars, Genie-nominated actress Annabella Piugattuk.

Annabella Piugattuk as Elisapee Brown
Born in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Annabella Piugattuk grew up in the small town of Igloolik (just a few hundred miles south of the North Pole) with her four brothers and one little sister. Throughout her childhood, she listened to her grandfather tell stories of their ancestral past and learned a deep understanding of Inuit tradition. Annabella also became adept at hunting on her own and wilderness survival techniques, even saving her best friend from drowning in the frigid Arctic waters.
When Annabella was 19, she was discovered at a local dance and cast in the film, The Snow Walker (2004). The role of Kanaalaq, who speaks Inuktitut and is able to survive in the wilderness, seemed tailor-made for Annabella, whose first language is Inuktitut. She was later nominated for a Genie Award for "Best Supporting Actress" for her performance.
Annabella is the proud mother of two little girls. She has also recorded a CD of traditional throat-singing, worked extensively with the Inuit Broadcasting Corporation, and translates professionally.
Rosemary Kilpatrick as Valerie Sedgewick
Rosemary has a background in theatre and music and has worked with choral groups across the country. Since moving to Iqaluit, Nunavut in 1999, she has performed in several theatre productions including portraying the 'Wicked Witch of the West' in The Wizard of Oz. Currently, Rosemary is developing a feature-length screenplay on adoption in the North.
Johnny Mark as Levi Brown
Johnny Mark is a young actor going into Grade 11 at Inuksuk High School in Iqaluit. He has been involved in several local theatre and film projects including, most recently, a public health video project on suicide prevention for Nunavut teens.
